OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE OF THE PROPOSED INSTITUTION

The aim of the People’s Institute of Pharmacy & Research Centre is committed to quality of education. Demand for well-qualified Pharmacy manpower is increasing day by day with the proliferation of many new companies and a greater demand for competent candidates in the Pharmaceutical sector is generated. Job opportunities for Pharmacy professionals have increased in India and abroad. Keeping this in view, the members of SJPN (Charitable Trust) have proposed to start People’s Institute of Pharmacy & Research Centre (PIP&RC) at Bhanpur, Bhopal, approx. 5.5 km from the Railway Station as well as Airport.

General and Technical Education Scenario of the State:
After 10+2, students have different options for career selection.  Those students who want to enter professional education in Pharmaceutical field have very limited option of joining B. Pharm program. However, not only there are vast opportunities after completing B. Pharm, many companies prefer students pursuing B. Pharm courses with good practical hand.  Students with pharmaceutical training are able to find a bright future, as opportunities are manifold for entry and promotion in industrial institutions.

Status at entry level:
In Madhya Pradesh more than two lakh students appeared at the 10+2 level board examination in 2006, out of this approx. 40% secure first division.  A sizable number of these students want to opt for Pharmacy degree course from good institutions at their home & nearby districts.

Status of Technical Level manpower:
Demand for pharmacy manpower is on the rise, with increasing requirement of pharmacy trained and qualified manpower within the country and abroad. A great number of Pharmaceutical Companies coming for campus selection show that there is a growing demand for B. Pharm qualified persons in the country.

Industrial Scenario of the State:
Madhya Pradesh has a large number of industrial hubs: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, a giant Electrical industry with more than 20,000 employees, is an important landmark in Bhopal.  Though several Pharmaceutical industries, big and small, like Lupin, Dabur, Aristo, Albert David, Ranbaxy, Plathico etc. are located near Bhopal, Dewas, Pitampore, Gwalior etc.  but still there is shortage of pharmaceutical industries in the state, because of unavailability of properly trained and qualified B. Pharma professionals in the State.  Many pharmaceutical companies have their collection and minor preprocessing plants in the state. State is one of the important locations that have lots of support for conventional and alternate medical system.  This also requires a large number of trained pharmacists.  A few industries have entered the State with facilities at Indore and Gwalior. The future of pharmaceutical industries in the state is most promising.

Scope of the College vis-a-vis the Industrial Scenario and Educational Facilities already available in the State and in this institute.
People’s Institute of Pharmacy & Research Centre (PIP&RC) will find ample opportunity to avail assistance from various pharmaceutical industries within the state.  Moreover, efforts will be made to approach industries located outside the state as well. College students will be sent regularly to these industries for both training and visits, and their experts will be invited for lectures and workshops on a regular basis. Industries will also be approached to accommodate our students for training.
Experienced and well-qualified faculty has already been identified. However, for specific elective courses college will avail the services of senior faculty from institutions of higher learning on lecture basis.
