LINKAGES IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Introduction
A meaningful and value based technical education is not complete without proper exposure to industrial environment and R&D. There is provision in the syllabus for students to be sent for industrial training. In order to be competitive and successful in industrial life, in addition to mere training, it is also necessary that the students are familiar with present-day industrial problems and future industrial trends. Lectures by experts from the industrial sector expose the students to various aspects of industry. The linkage with industry enables students to use their practical experience and initiative in tackling existing problems. For this purpose guidance and mentoring are arranged by inviting experts from industry to deliver guest lectures.

INDUSTRY LINKAGES
It is important for institute to have strong and long term linkages with the pharmaceutical industries. People’s Institute of Pharmacy and Research Centre (PIP&RC) is fortunate enough in this respect, Many big and small Pharmaceutical industries are located in Madhya Pradesh, out of these many pharmaceutical industries like Lupin Labs, Arisro Pharmacuticals . Albert-David , Ranbaxy , Pleathico etc are located near Bhopal . Parent society enjoys a very good relation with all these industries. Students in-visit and in-plant training will be arranged at these industries on regular basis and industries related problems shall be taken up by the students in their Project work. In the coming five years some more pharmaceutical industries are likely to have their set up in M.P for which many more Pharmacists shall be required. Institutes cannot attain excellence by functioning in isolation. It is important for institutes to have strong and long-term linkages with industry. People’s Institute of Pharmacy & Research Centre is fortunate in this respect. There are several industries, big and small, are located in Madhya Pradesh. Parent society enjoys a good rapport with all these Industries. Students' in-visit and in-plant training will be arranged at these industries on a regular basis. In the newly formed institute also students will be encouraged to take-up industry-related problems in their project work. The idea will be to project student's contribution during project work in such a manner that on many occasions, industry would offer employment to students only on the basis of their project work. These linkages will be further strengthened and students will be provided with ample opportunities to practice theoretical knowledge acquired in the class rooms, in handling and Industrial problems. Guest lectures will be educative and useful to the students, as they will gain first-hand knowledge from the experts working in industries. Such interactions will also help the students in clarifying doubts about industry-related problems and to know about opportunities available to them and, in turn, what the industries expect from them. Students trained in such a manner can be assets from day one to their employers.

Linkages with the Community.
The community is the most important stakeholder of any educational system. Any kind of education has special responsibilities to benefit the community. The college will fully abide by this. There is a plan to start NSS wing in the college. The responsibility of this NSS wing will be to take the benefit of the knowledge directly or indirectly to the community. This will include activities like adult education, educating the mass of nearby area about safe drinking water and water conservation/harvesting, telling them about their rights and privileges, making them aware about general hygiene and symptoms of common diseases and how to prevent them. Plan will be to adopt a school for wholesome improvement in education and career building.

Linkages with other Technical Institutions in the region.
Technical interaction is mutually beneficial. People’s Institute of Pharmacy & Research Centre envisages a close relationship with peer institutes like pharmacy department of Dr. Hari Singh Gour University Sagar & other reputed Pharma institutions. Subject experts will be invited to deliver special lectures. Students will be encouraged to participate in paper contests in co curricular and extra curricular activities at national level, to demonstrate their understanding of technical subjects and other skills.

Linkages with institutions of excellence such as the IITS and IISC, Bangalore.
Students of People’s Institute of Pharmacy & Research Centre will be encouraged to visit IITs and interact with students there. This will benefit our students in learning about latest practices and development in pharmaceutical technology. Our students will make it a point to participate in paper presentations whenever such contests are held in IITs and IISc. This relationship will be further expanded by sponsoring our faculty to attend seminars and courses offered by these institutes of higher learning and inviting experts from there for lectures and mentoring.

Linkages Abroad
Trustees of Sarvajanik Jankalyan Parmarthik Nyas have over all up-liftment of students of this state through quality education in Information Technology in mind. For this if linkages have to be established with the institutes abroad, that will be done. First linkages will be established at state and national level. After acquiring required level of maturity linkages abroad will also be established. Contacts will be established with the faculty and alumni of foreign universities for gainful technical exchanges. Later on they will be invited to deliver expert lectures for strengthening the teaching-learning process, research and developmental activities.

Linkages with R&D Laboratories.
Final project is an important and substantial part of B. PHARM. program. For this students will take up the industry problems/case studies. There are few students who are driven by the technical challenges and they go for R&D type of projects. For such students all help will be extended and at appropriate areas, linkages will be formed with R&D laboratories. There are only a few labs in the state such as Lupin Lab and Regional Research Laboratory (RRL) Scientists and engineers from these labs will be requested to act as guide to student projects and if possible faculty will also participate in such ventures. Efforts will also be made to further strengthen linkage with out of the state R&D Labs.
