The MBBS Curriculum ::

The objective of our college is to groom a well rounded medical graduate who on completion of five and half years of the undergraduate medical program will be competent to carryout the clinical, preventive and promotive roles expected of a physician. The curriculum is - Student centered rather than teachers centered; Problem based rather than information gathering; Integrated rather than discipline based; Community based rather than hospital based; Elective-oriented rather than standard program oriented; Systematic rather than apprentice based.

Under graduate teaching program-

The four and a half years of the MBBS course has been divided as follows:

  • The first professional MBBS examination is conducted at the end of first year for Anatomy, Physiology and Medical Biochemistry.
  • The second professional MBBS examination is conducted 18 months after passing first professional examination in - Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine.
  • The third professional Part-I MBBS examination is conducted 12 months after passing second professional MBBS examination in - Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Community Medicine (PSM).
  • The third professional Part-II MBBS examination is conducted 12 months after passing Part-I examination in four subjects of - General Medicine, Paediatric Medicine, General Surgery and Obstetric & Gynaecology.
  • One year rotatory Internship is compulsory after passing third professional Part-II examination to receive the MBBS degree from Barkut-Ul-Lah University . If the student remains absent for certain period during the internship he will have to repeat for this period to complete the 12 months internship.
  • In order to derive the maximum benefit from integrated teaching the student is expected to have 100% attendance in all the subjects. However, the student should have not less than 75% of attendance, separately in theory and practical in order to be eligible to appear for the university examinations.

Basic Sciences:

The teaching program for the basic sciences consist of the following :

  1. Didactic classroom lectures
  2. Practical
  3. Tutorial/Seminars

Fortnightly academic time tables are prepared, giving details of the teaching program with topics to be covered. These are put up well in advance. To support the integrated approach, seminars and tutorials are conducted every fortnight on important diseases/syndromes. This gives the basic science students a better clinical orientation of the systems being taught. Concurrent evaluation is done by fortnightly tests (FNT), viva-voce, seminars and tutorials at the end of every three month.
